Outdoor Recreation and Activities

Teller County is everyone's favorite Rocky Mountain outdoor playground.  Located at the base of Pikes Peak, Teller County first attracted gold prospectors over 100 years ago.  Now you'll find our residents, nearby Colorado Springs families, couples of all ages, and international visitors exploring and prospecting for their own kind of fun enjoying Teller County's many outdoor recreation opportunities. 

Only 25 minutes from Colorado Springs, Teller County boasts hundreds of miles of public hiking trails, biking trails, ATV & dirt bike trails, and off road trails that allow you to explore by foot, single-track, or by 4-wheel drive.  You can go it alone or enjoy the company of members from the many Teller County & Colorado Springs groups and clubs dedicated to enjoying and preserving this wonderful resource. 

Enjoy tent & RV camping at hundreds of campsite locations ranging from primitive to modern.  Gold medal trout fishing is always popular and readily available in our nearby streams, lakes, and reservoirs.  You can decide to wade through our cool mountain streams, or explore by boat, canoe, kayak, or belly boat on most of our alpine lakes and reservoirs.  Rock climbing is a fast growing sport and very popular in the area.  Mountain biking is a great way to take in the scenery while getting plenty of fresh air & exercise. 

Horseback riding in Colorado is always one of the favorite ways to get close to nature while exploring our breathtaking scenery.  Bring your own horse or rent one from our world famous dude & guest ranches.  Ever wonder just how far a golfball will fly at 8100 feet above sea level?  That may be the best excuse to take in a round or two of golf while visiting.

Winter opens up new outdoor possibilities for snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, sledding, sleigh rides, ice hockey, and more.  Combine Teller County's many outdoor activities with over 300 days of sunshine and moderate year-round temperatures and you'll know why Teller County, Colorado is everyone's favorite one-day or weekend getaway location!
