Teller County Colorado Backpacking
Teller County Colorado is a backpacker's mecca. Thousands of individuals and groups come to explore the over one million acres of public land that makes up this Rocky Mountain region. Pike National Forest, BLM land, and Colorado State Parks offer you a lifetime of backpacking opportunities.
Backpacking may be the perfect way to "get away from it all" and Teller County is the place be! We say Teller County has a "wild side" because it truly does. Nearly every ridge top and mountaintop you view from anywhere in the county is yours to explore. Select a trailhead to start from and you'll find yourself in the real Colorado wild almost instantly.
Abundant wildlife, majestic rock formations, and our unending forests will make you forget that civilization is nearby. It's amazing what happens to people when road noises, the crowds of people, and the normal daily rush give way to the whisper of aspen leaves as the morning thermals warm the air and begin the new day.
Being able to carry your home on your back gives you the freedom to explore. Whether your goal is to climb Pikes Peak through the Crags (the only free climbing access to the Peak), to enjoy a little wild trout fishing along a secluded mountain lake, or to simply enjoy listening to elk bugle in a mountain top meadow while tending your campfire, you'll find this and more while backpacking in Teller County, Colorado!
